Oldwest in Unterkulm

Vom 27. bis 29. April 2018 wird im aargauischen Unterkulm (rund 10 km südlich von Aarau) bereits zum sechsten Mal mit grossem Aufwand durch den Verein „Old West Unterkulm“ eine Westernstadt in Betrieb genommen. Ein „Muss“ für alle Liebhaber der Wildwest-Romantik. Live- Country wird am Freitag- und Samstagabend im Festzelt den Besuchern geboten. Tagsüber können die Besucher in die Welt des „alten Westens“ eintauchen und sich auf eine Entdeckungsreise durch diese Zeit begeben. Cowboys und Saloongirls, Siedler und Soldaten hauchen der Stadt Leben ein. Mit  Ponyreiten, Zauberei und Old-Time-Strassenmusik wird der Besuch zu einem Erlebnis. Am Sonntagmorgen wird eine Feldmesse zelebriert, welche durch „Magic Charly and his Musicfriends“ mit Gospels aus der Siedlerzeit begleitet wird. Herzlich willkommen in der Westernstadt «Silver Creek».

Old-Time uf dr Alp / Old-Time in the Alps 2018

Wir treffen uns zum dritten Mal auf der Alp oberhalb von Elm zu einem Old-Time Music Weekend.

Freitag, 21. September, 12:00 Uhr bis Sonntag, 23. September 16:00 Uhr.

Kosten: Freitag – Sonntag CHF 180.- (Samstag – Sonntag CHF 100.-) inkl. Vollpension (exkl. Getränke)

Unterkunft: Skihaus Schabell (Gruppenzimmer, Schlafsack, WC/Dusche auf dem Gang)
Anreise: Individuell bis Talstation Sportbahnen Elm

Wenn wir genügend Sponsoren finden, kommt auch dieses Jahr wieder ein Old-Time-Lehrer oder eine Lehrerin mit nach Elm. Beiträge sind also herzlich willkommen!

Join us for the third annual Old-Time Weekend in the Alps, near Elm!
Thanks to your positive feedback, we will start the gathering on Friday this year.

Friday, 21 September, 12:00 – Sunday, 23 September, 16:00

Cost: CHF 180 for Friday to Sunday (Saturday and Sunday only, CHF 100). Price includes full room and board, excluding your drink consumption.

Accommodation: Skihaus Schabell (Dormitory-style, with bunk rooms for men and women. Bring your own sleeping bag. Men’s and women’s bathrooms, with shower, on each floor).

Arrival: on your own, at Valley station “Elm, Sportbahnen”. The bus stop “Elm, Sportbahnen” can be reached from Zurich Airport and Zurich main train station in less than 2.5 hours (by train and bus)

Special guest musicians: We hope to find enough sponsors to bring a professional old-time music tutor to Elm again this year. Your individual contributions are welcome towards this effort.

Old-Time Jam im McGee’s Pub — Zürich-Wiedikon

We are a small group of musicians who play acoustic music in the American old-time style – think Appalachian string band music with fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin and stand-up bass. We hold a monthly jam in the Wiedikon neighborhood of Zurich and we invite you to join us to play, learn or listen. If you play one of the instruments above and you can pick up tunes easily (or already know some old-time repertoire), come to the jam session and play. We’ll start slower so that you can pick up the tune. The great thing about old-time music is that we play the melody over and over again, so it’s easy to join in. If you like to sing, join in on the singing songs. If you would just like to listen to an entrancing form of traditional music and have a beer, bring your friends and enjoy. This is meant to be a low-key jam session and not a stage performance.

We would like to keep the jam strictly to the old-time American style and repertoire of playing – which is a bit different than Irish music, Bluegrass or folk songs (though elements of each of these genres may appear)! If this is something you might be interested in, we hope you’ll come and find out what old-time music is all about.
